Active Release Techniques in Cincinnati, Ohio

Norwood Chiropractic has quickly become known as the place to see an ART Practitioner. We have the only 3 ART elite providers in the Cincinnati area. However, there are still many people who are still unaware of exactly what an ART practitioner does.
Active Release Technique encompasses 500 movements that can be utilized in conjunction with one another to treat the source of pain and discomfort. Scar tissue builds up in overused tissue, which leads to restriction in movement, impingement of nerves, and chronic discomfort. The ART treatments are designed to break up that scar tissue and free trapped nerves and allow new, healthy tissue to form.
We have seen hundred of Patients come through our doors that were led to believe they were surgical candidates, or that they were destined to deal with headaches or other ailments forever. With ART that has not only been avoidable, but the majority of our patients that have success with ART end up not just feeling better, but free of all symptoms.

Who Should Consider Active Release Techniques?

A.R.T. is for anyone suffering from an overuse injury. Some common ailments that could benefit from the technique include:
  • Headaches
  • Back & Neck Pain
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Sciatica
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Knee Problems
As you can see, these are some of the most commonly suffered physical problems. ART is revolutionary in the sense that it is completely non-invasive (only manual manipulation of movement is used), and it leads to a quick road to recovery that many Patients didn’t know was possible.

What is a Treatment Session Like?

Since every injury is unique, and there are so many protocols involved so no two treatments are ever really the same. However, here’s what you could expect from the average Active Release Techniques session.
First, you’ll explain to the ART practitioner what hurts. After a few questions to determine the possible cause of the injury, the ART practitioner will begin manipulating the injury to find the exact source of the pain – that is, where the scar tissue has been accumulating.
Then, a practitioner will use very specific tension and pressure to help break up the scar tissue. This is combined with precise patient movement designed to restore range of motion to the affected area.
There may be some slight soreness or discomfort as the scar tissue is released, not unlike what you feel in a deep tissue massage. However, as the scare tissue breaks down and we release the tension, you might find yourself pain free for the first time in quite a while.  We can restore full capability in just a few visits.
