Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization is a technique that utilizes a set of handheld instruments to effectively break down fascial restrictions and scar tissue. The instruments are designed to induce controlled microtrauma to the affected soft tissue(s), which
initiates reabsorption of excessive scar tissue and facilitates a cascade of healing activities. This results in remodeling of soft tissue structures.
Adhesions and scar tissue within the soft tissue often develop as a result of trauma, surgery, immobilization, repetitive strain, or sustained tension. Scar tissue restricts motion, weakens tissue and may entrap nerves. Effective treatment of scar tissue will restore motion, strengthen tissue integrity and reduce or eliminate symptoms.
Depending on the specific tissue involved in a particular case these instruments may be more effective than the hands of the practitioner.
